One of the best-ever IMAX movies is coming back to Fernbank, "Everest". Here is a description form their website:
Join the expedition team as they soar 29,028 feet to the top of Mt. Everest and celebrate the view from Earth’s highest peak in the most acclaimed large-format film ever produced, Everest. As scores of thrill-seeking climbers face an uncertain future in a quest to reach the summit, this spectacular film documents the heroic rescue of imperiled climbers caught in a deadly May 1996 storm, which remains the mountain’s most infamous tragedy. Everest takes audiences across creaking icefalls and gaping chasms, up dangerous, towering cliffs, through a harrowing rescue, and into the danger zone of oxygen-thin altitude. The 40-minute film also reveals how this tallest mountain was formed and continues to evolve, how high altitude challenges a climber's physical and mental capabilities, and how Sherpa culture permeates the Mount Everest experience.
We'll meet downstairs beforehand for a drink and listen to some music before heading upstairs for the show.
Cost is $13 for adults and $12 for students.
Hope to see you there.
