Hi all, as the Wellington group have changed the date for the Porirua Museum meetup does any one feel like a visit to the pre suggested boatsheds and walkway at Camborne ? Next Sunday 26th May say 10am ? Weather could go either way so if anyone has a wet weather alternative that would be great

Hi Richard, you've got some great shots. Love the Brains. I really like black and white prints, they seem to show more detail. Hope to see you at the Porirua Hospital Museum. I'm still not sure if it's the 16th or 23rd though........

Wow, I love the photos. A big thank you to Lynda for suggesting and hosting this outing and supported by Richard and Marlene. It sounds like you guys had fun in the sun, and lots of useful and helpful tips were shared. This is an example of how we should continue to develop our group moving forward. Thanks again to Lynda, well done.

another great morning and the weather gods were kind too :-) good company and lots of tips from Richard. The contents of his camera bag put Mary Poppins' carpet bag to shame :-) Great to see you too Marlene

Really enjoyed today, nice walk, my photos are ... ahem, less than satisfactory, can't see with the LCD screen in bright light so managed to get half a picture a couple of times, well that's my excuse! Just downloaded Instagram, hopefully easy to use! Would like to go back there in different light and try again sometime. Thanks for the chirpy company and good tips Lynda and Richard!

Would the shade cover be the same as a lens hood as in doing the same job? I guess it wouldn't diffuse light though would it?

      1 · May 27, 2013

    • Richard A.

If you search for "LCD camera shade hood" in amazon there are a bunch of folding ones there. Shade cover covers your LCD screen. A lens hood goes on the lens at the front to reduce glare when shooting towards the sun. Hope that helps!

Yes Lynda downloaded Instagram but there's all this rubbish/advertising with it so not sure if I've downloaded the right one - I know the free ones have heaps of advertising but. Asb I chose the wrong one, there seems to be a few called Instagram. I'll let you know how it goes

Had a quick like in the iTunes store and I'm not sure if it's available for the iPad. My version doesn't spam me with any advertising. Should be spelled 'Instagram' [only].

Oh nooooo I've just deleted todays photo's !!!!! and I had a few good ones too.....I don't believe it !!! I have uploaded 3 from last Wed instead when I was out there walking, the water was calm and very reflective.

    • Lynda

yes could have been much worse, it was only the Camborne walkway and not the Great Wall ! That would have been a disaster....did you download Instagram ?

      1 · May 26, 2013

    • Richard A.

Yikes! Just saw your comment about deleting today's. But last Wed's ones were good.

not sure what the weather will be doing in the morning, but I'll be there wet or fine. See you in the carpark at 10am

    May 25, 2013

  • Marlene

Where's a good place to meet on Sunday?

    May 24, 2013

    • Lynda

in the carpark is probably easiest, it's then about a 3 min walk to the walkway/boatsheds. Head North on SH1.At the Paremata roundabout continue straight ahead. Immediately after the roundabout you will come on to the Paremata bridge, make sure you are in the right hand lane. At the end of the bridge there's a right hand turn into a large carpark. Turn into it and there we are. If you miss the turn you will come to a set of traffic lights so you'll have to turn around and come back :-0

    • Marlene

      Great, see you all then!

Great George, look forward to seeing you there

By the way, and a bit random, AND if you have the time as it's a long article, then's an interesting piece in the UK's Guardian today about why various artists and critics like photography: http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/interactive/2013/may/19/power-photography-time-mortality-memory#blake-morrison

    May 20, 2013

    • Lynda

      thanks for that :-)

      May 21, 2013

  • Richard A.

Nice idea - will try to get along so I've RSVP'd yes, but have a few balls to juggle that Sunday. I haven't been there so do you have any tips where to meet / park etc.?

    May 20, 2013

    • Lynda

Hope you can make it Richard :-) Head North on SH1. After the Paremata roundabout you'll cross the Paremata bridge. Keep in the right hand lane.As you come towards the end of the Paremata bridge there's a sharp right hand turn into a large carpark. The carpark borders the edge of the Pauatahanui inlet. If you get as far as the traffic lights after the Paremata bridge you've gone about 50m too far :-( Hope to see you there at 10ish :-)
