Improvisation takes practice - and a supportive room!
Are you at the stage where you can comfortably accompany Youtube backing tracks, and you can improvise within a song structure?
Once in awhile it is necessary to put the notes away and allow yourself to create 'on the fly', and to keep up with others while they do so as well.
These jam sessions will not use notes, videos, or external references. We shall start with some sort of chord progression, and play with that until the group naturally progresses the piece forward.
We'll use a series of warm-up exercises to get everybody to a headspace where they can more readily improvise together.
The music will be made up, on the spot.
Focus will be on tasteful improvisation as a group, following each others' lead.
Attendees should be very comfortable with chords and progressions, and moderately comfortable with scales and improvising within a song, even if not experienced with full song improvisation. Don't expect perfection! We're going to make some noise!
If it time to work on your improv skills, then come on out!
There is a $10 suggested donation for those who can afford it.
