Dear Friends of the New Esperanto,
Free weekly classes in Esperanto on Sundays, at NOON, at 4506 SE Belmont, Suite B-2 in Portland. There is a parking lot around to the side and there are food places nearby. Text or call John Dale for details.
These are exciting times for Esperanto, with over 225,000 people having signed up for lessons on Duolingo.com since the course was released in early 2015. We will focus this semester on Esperanto as a language of personal transformation and of global person-to-person friendship, service, cooperation, and solidarity. We can think of Esperanto as a common second language of and for “We the ‘Little People’ of the United Nations.”
We will help students strengthen their ability to converse in Esperanto and to use Esperanto in making contact with interesting people and organizations around the world. As part of this, we will also familiarize ourselves with the Goals of the United Nations for the Year 2030 and with how each of us can do our part to meet them and support them. We will also focus on outreach here in Portland, particularly to young people.
I hope we will see you! Please let us know if you could meet at a time and place more convenient for you. Tutoring and conversation practice are possible over Skype.
Yours in service,
