An old Buick, a cool lodge and a decorated trail

This hike starts at Multhnohma falls and follows the creek for a few miles. We then turn toward the Cougar Rock trail going off trail to see a very old car (it has a wood spoke wheel) that was left by people who were farming the basin. We will also see a few of the old home sites where they lived. Countinue on past Cougar Rock and go to Nesika lodge where we will break for lunch. If you have not seen Nesika you will not believe how nice it is. After we leave Nesika we will stop by the view point looking over the gorge and then hike out taking the "toothbrush" trail. If you would like to donate a Christmas ornamente just bring it along and we will add it to the collection in the trees. This hike is about 8 miles with 2000' elevation gain. The trail can be slippery if wet so poles would be a good idea.

Well behaved dogs are welcome. That means your dog should not be allowed to run by hikers at any time. They should not bother people while we eat.

You should bring your ten essentials paying extra attention to the weather and your clothing, no cotton.

I'm sorry to say I have to fly to Arizona unexpectedly this weekend and will miss this hike. Luckily there are many on the waiting list! Have a great time and I'll have to catch the next hike.

Hey everyone. I'm new to the area and to Meetup. How does it work? What's MeetUp etiquete? If I want to join for a hike that is already full, can I drive myself and just meet up with everyone at the trailhead? Thanks.

As a general rule, it is bad etiquette to just show up at the trail head for a full hike. The Hike Leaders limit the number of folks on any particular event for several reasons, one of which is outlined in my earlier comment below.

I see, thanks Zachary. Look forward to a good hike and meeting y'all when the time is right.

    Agree with Ross too.

Please remember that we the Hike Leaders are all volunteers and that we also want to have a good time out there: the bigger the group, the less fun it is for us.

Pete, thanks for your email re: apps, etc. I can drive if you need carpooling from Gateway. Cheers.

    Hi.
I would love too, to do this hike. Do you have any idea at what time we shall be back in the afternoon. Thanks

I wish that you would allow RSVP when the notice comes out. Otherwise, it sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. I would love to do this hike!
