  • This location is shown only to members

TOTAL MILES: 6

PACE:   Quick 3mph

DIFFICULTY RATING: Difficult

TYPE: Lollipop

ESTIMATED HIKING TIME:  2 hours

PERMITS:  None

DOGS: Yes, Dog Friendly, Dog must be on leash for the entire hike.

You know your going to be snacking at those super bowl parties, so come out and burn some calories so you can eat guilt free.

This will be a quicker paced 3mph, 6 mile hike at the western end of Forest Park

We will start out at the Newberry road trailhead of the Wildwood trail. Follow it to Firelane 15, then the short strenuous climb up Firelane 12 to the BPA road, then back on the Wildwood trail.

This end of Forest Park is quiet and serene, no grand views, best described as a nice walk in the woods.

What to bring:

Sturdy hiking boots/shoes

• Layers of clothing that can be adjusted or removed as necessary (NO COTTON!!!)

Rain gear

water

* Please note if the hike is full, you can choose to be notified of a open spot . What this means is that if a spot opens up everyone who wants a spot will automatically receive an e-mail notifying them of the opening. The first person (whether on the waiting list or not) to RSVP gets the spot.

Glad you all are interested in this hike. I did want to mention in the comments also, that this is not a easy hike. See the above description and pace. I know people who made the mistake of thinking a Forest Park hike would be easy. Those of you I see signed up that I have hiked with before, you will have no problems on this hike.

    Hi, Tim,

I hiked the Dog Mountain trail last Sunday and it took me about one hour to reach the summit. I think I should be ok this trail.
