Hike Memaloose state park and surrounding areas

Let's go hike this seldom traveled area between Hood River and the Dalles.
Distance; 7.5 miles
Difficulty; moderate
Elevation gain; 1200 ft.

Please note; much of this hike is off trail and over some uneven terrain but there is little to no actual bush whacking.
CARPOOLING: RT mileage is 130 miles, give or take; we suggest a mileage donation of 10 cents/mile/person, or $13.00. Exact change makes it easier to divide among our drivers. No one will be turned away for an inability to contribute. What to bring: • Sturdy hiking boots/shoes • Two or three light layers of clothing that can be adjusted or removed as necessary (NO COTTON!!!) • Rain gear • Safety whistle, • The 10 essentials* • Headlamp or flashlight w/spare batteries • Lunch, snacks and plenty of water • Trekking poles (always a good idea) • Camera (optional) *Navigation, Sun protection, Insulation, Illumination, First Aid, Fire, Repair Kit/Tools, Nutrition, Hydration, Emergency Shelter. For a more detailed description, check out “The Ten Essentials” on the Portland Hiking Meetup Group’s FILES page.

DOGS. I will be bringing Scout and one other dog, people and trail friendly dog is welcome. First come first served- you must contact me and get a ''yes'' reply to bring your dog.

I'll be at the South East corner of the parking structure.

My best friend is visiting me from out of town and would like to come, but she doesn't have the right shoes. Does anyone have a pair of either women's size 11 or men's size 9 hiking boots or trail-runners she could borrow? I know it's a long shot but just thought I'd put it out there! Thanks so much!
