Forest Park Eight-Miler

**** RSVPs OPEN THURSDAY, APRIL 19 @ 8:00PM ****

Sometimes I cannot readily recall what a section of Forest Park looks like ... so together we'll explore the more challenging to reach trails just beyond firelane 1, and between firelanes 2 and 3. This hike has a few up-n-down and out-n-back sections as well as a few twisting and overlapping loops. What can I say, I need to get this section checked off!
This will be the first of many eight-milers, please come prepared with easy-to-grab snacks as we will be stopping at least twice for short snack breaks.
We'll start at the entrance to Firelane three (located at the end of NW Thunder Crest Lane) and make our way down to Leif Erikson Rd, over to the Chestnut trail, onto the Wildwood, do an out-n-back on Firelane two, then a final loop on the Maple and Wildwood trails.

Total miles: 8
Estimated hiking time: 3.5hrs
Elevation gain: 600ft
Difficulty rating:Moderate due to pace
Map: Green Trails 426S Forest Park

NOAA Weather forecast: Low of 52 that morning, cloudy with a 50% chance of showers (less than tenth of an inch). High near 64.

Dogs: OK on Fixed-Length Leashes Only, please be familiar with the Dog Policy

What to Bring:
- water resistant hiking boots/shoes
- two or three layers of clothing that can be adjusted
- rain jacket
- water and bigger snacks
- doggie snacks and poop scooping supplies

FYI, the waiting list is MANUAL so if a spot opens up, everyone on the wait list gets an email and the first person who RSVPs yes gets the spot.

My hiking style is pretty conservative. I like to hike in small groups, I leave within five minutes of the posted meeting time, and I always carry my ten essentials (even on these shorter Forest Park hikes). All attendees must have a confirmed 'Yes' RSVP.

Chris, you're awesome! I think soon it may be time to quit your day time job and come lead us all day long.
