• Laughter Meditation

    Andrea's Laughter Sanctuary

Laughter is a simple and pure form of connection; easily experienced in physical form. I have learned that laughter, and its ability to connect us in the middle of our utter vulnerability, can lead to the feelings of inner joy that most of us are seeking. Laughter is a fun and easy way to meet another’s gaze and dissolve the illusion of our separateness. My intention with this gathering is that you will experience the many benefits of laughter for the body and mind, the heart and soul; to encourage and inspire you to choose laughter in your life more often. I believe that laughter is a tool for understanding the human condition and ultimately healing through connection. Laughter Meditation has two stages: first, we laugh together for no reason. Laughter opens the heart to allow more love, more trust and more connection. In the second stage, we share silence. Laughter serves as a bridge to intensify, taking us deeper into our silence, our inner peace and calm. Please join us for fun and fellowship! There is a suggested love donation, but no one will be turned away. Please RSVP as space in my basement laughter sanctuary is limited. Also, please note that my home, unfortunately, is not wheelchair accessible. The house is accessible by Tri-met, either the 75 bus or the new Orange Lightrail. The new Orange line stop nearby at Sellwood and Johnson Creek and the 75 Bus stops nearby on SE 32nd. The bus is less of a walk. I created a little map here, but it doesn't show everything. At the new MAX stop there is a trail heading south between the Pendleton Woolen Mills store and the tracks. It heads up a little hill to the Springwater Trail. Then you can follow the outlined map via the trail and the neighborhood streets (~ 15 min. walk). For the bus I have the long way round on the map (still not long ~ 5 min.), but on the corner of SE 32nd & Roswell there is a large field that you can cut through to get to Barba St. Hope this helps!! https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zY24JoXPhGys.krag0QMXIFt0&usp=sharing

  • World Laughter Day Celebration

    Laurelhurst Park

    $5.00

The 21st Annual World Laughter Day Celebration "The celebration of World Laughter Day is a positive manifestation for world peace and is intended to build up a global consciousness of brotherhood and friendship through laughter. It is most often celebrated by gatherings of people in public places with the sole purpose of laughing. " ~ Wikipedia The first Sunday in May is always World Laughter Day!!! Instead of our regular club session we will be meeting outside at Laurelhurst Park for some laughter, play and a potluck! 2:30-4 pm Play & Laughter Fun 4-5 pm Laughter Yoga Session 5-6 pm Food & Fellowship!! I will arrive before 2:30 to try and find a table and set up. Look for some yellow smiley balloons and blue World Laughter Day signs!! Stephen and I plan to bring bubbles, ribbons sticks, balloons, beach balls and other fun toys. We will even have the use of one of those parachutes especially for group play! You can come as you are, or dress up. Feel free to bring anything you may have for the fun and games (props, games etc.) We will laugh and play throughout, but run a full Laughter session from 4-5 pm. Because we are hoping to spread the joy and laughter, our Laughter Session will be mobile and may play some follow the leader type laughter exercises throughout the area!! If you have any ideas for fun and games or spreading the laughter love please reach out. We are all ears for suggestions! We are discussing a Laughter Flash Mob for later in the year ... Please bring a potluck item to share. You may want to bring a folding/camping chair or picnic blanket if you have them just in case we don't get the large group of picnic tables that we've had in previous years. Friends, family and children are welcome! We will have paper plates, napkins and utensils available. * The weather back-up plan will be to meet at my home, so that we can still laugh and play and eat as the Hawthorne Movement Center does not allow food ... In the rare case that it is necessary I will update the Meetup with my address etc.
