Cascadia Permaculture veteran Rick Valley will be leading a two day educational work-party to plant several hundred feet of multifunctional hedgerows. The hedgerows will include edible species, wildlife forage, and various other medicinal and useful species.
The work-party will include frequent pauses for mini-lessons, and this will be a great opportunity to learn lots about the installation of hedgerow and agroforestry systems in the Pacific Northwest.
Registration fee goes entirely to shared meals. You will be well-fed!
The Work: We will be engaging in two full days of physical work. Most if it will involve planting trees and shrubs, and moving and spreading compost. Only sign up if you are physically capable of participating in this sort of activity.
The Site: Atlan Center is an aspiring ecovillage situated on 150 acres of ~90 year old Grand Fir forest and White Oak woodlands. The site offers a topographically, ecologically, and geologically diverse site that provides a compelling living laboratory for the exploration of broadacre permaculture design and implementation.
Accommodations: We will be "indoor camping" in our cabin, about a 1/4 mile from where we'll be working. Participants should bring a sleeping pad or cot and sleeping bag.
Food: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner will be provided both days. All participants are encouraged to bring their own snacks, any special beverages you like, for in between meals, late-night, etc.
