Eagle Creek (High Bridge)

Eagle Creek (High Bridge) in the Gorge
Date: Saturday, January 26, 2013
TIME: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
TOTAL MILES: 6.6 miles
ESTIMATED HIKING TIME: 4 hours, depending on party size.
ELEVATION GAIN: Approximately 600 vertical feet
Route Description: This will definitely be a rainy day hike, so come prepared to deal with the elements. This is a moderate 6.6 mile out-and-back in the Eagle Creek drainage. We will hike to High Bridge, a metal span across a mini slot canyon. We will go .4 of a mile further to Tenas Campground for lunch. We will return with a possible side trip down to Punch Bowl Falls, if trail conditions warrant.
WEATHER FORECAST: Rain. High near 43. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
PERMITS: National Forest Service pass.
$$$: Suggested donation for outing: $2.00.
CARPOOLING: RT mileage is approximately 90 miles; we suggest a mileage donation of 10 cents/mile/rider. Exact change is welcome.
Note: This is a carbon-neutral outing, $.25/person from outings donation is used to offset carbon produced during the trip.
Directions to Carpool: Note: This is not the Fred Meyers on Mill Plain and I-205 carpool site. We can’t meet there any longer. Their lot is full and cars will be towed. We will meet at the new carpool site at the Marshall Center, 1009 East McLoughlin Blvd. Park on the west, or right side, of the building, as you face the building from the street, in the second row. There will be other cars in the lot, so be sure and bring my cell # below.
If you have questions about the hike or what to bring, call Mike Newsham at[masked], [masked] . This cell number will work for communication purposes on the day of the hike.
