Tap It Tuesday at the Cascade Barrel House

Cascade Brewing has got to be the king-producer of American non-Brettanomyces sour beers. They are quite purposefully a Lacto Lab (that's a cool new phrase I just coined that we are all going to use now).

Every Tuesday you can come see some blinkin' amateurs tap a new keg. Maybe those blinkin' amateurs can even be you. http://www.cascadebrewingbarrelhouse.com/tuesday_tappers.asp

Or you can just come drink the beer.

This turned out to be an extra special Tap It Tuesday, thanks to Brandon being social enough to grab the brewmaster and cellar master, Ron Gansberg, as he was heading out the door by us. He asked if we would like a "short tour" and it turned into the longest short tour I've even had! We tasted from a lot of barrels, and did some in glass blending of up to four ales at a time. Thoughtful questions from our members pulled all sorts of great information from this founding member of an iconic Portland brewery. It was truly an excellent opportunity to learn about how the vibrant fruit, assertive sour, and barrel complexity we get at the tap is built. Thanks to all!
