Kayak in Downtown Portland!

Audrey McCall Beach

Very beginner friendly & safe! Come paddle around on the Willamette & check out the downtown area from a new, fun perspective. We will launch from underneath the Hawthorne Bridge at the end of SE Madison St. There really isn't much in terms of restrooms in the area. My best suggestion is about 4-5 blocks away at Water Avenue Coffee, 1028 SE Water Ave #145, 97214. Also there is a public restroom across the river where we can stop for a break during the paddle. I am currently down to 1 kayak I can lend out because my Jeep, trailer & several kayaks were recently stolen. I recommend a large sun hat and athletic type long sleeves/pants that can get wet to cool off when it's sunny. It's always nice to be able to go for a refreshing dip in the river to cool off when it's hot! Bring plenty of water, sunglasses that won't fall off your face, snacks & sunscreen. A change of clothes to keep in the car is a good idea, too.

Ross Island

Sellwood Riverfront Park

Very beginner friendly & safe! I have 2 extra kayaks (with paddles & life jackets) that I can bring, or bring your own & join us. A $20-30 donation is requested per kayak. Meet at Sellwood Riverfront (dog) Park. We will paddle by Oaks Park, along a row of houseboats, and into a protected channel next to Ross Island. A great place to explore with beautiful views of the city and a bit of wildlife. Please dress for the weather and avoid wearing cotton if possible. Also a change of shoes & pants/shorts is always a good idea.
