Beer and Budgeting

  • Mar 27, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • 200 Market St. Building

As young professionals, some of us are making just enough to eek by, others making more than you ever have before. Regardless, we all have to ask the same question: How should I be budgeting my income to make ends meet today and in the future? If you aren't the boss of your money, it will be the boss of you. I'd like to host a beer and budgeting evening. Let's get together, enjoy a drink and learn some good budgeting strategies and techniques. This will be workshop style with some individual participation and a tutorial on Mint.com (it's my favorite). Bring your laptop or tablet, the more hands on the better. Make your ideal budget a game and a challenge, set goals and achieve them, spend money guilt free with the peace of mind that's it's already accounted for. No need to work this into your budget as it will be a free event ;) Please RSVP if you are interested in the event which will help me determine date and location. Thanks!

Unfortunately being a young professional has its downside - I'm going to have to work late today and will miss this :( . Sorry for how late this is..

Our group has gotten small so I've opened it up to a few people outside of this group =. Please feel free to do the same. More the merrier =) of course there are perks to small groups as well. See you all tomorrow!

Alright folks, My hope has been to host this in at my office on the 27th at 6:30. I'm on 3rd and market st. on the 16th floor. I had to get clearance from my office manager and they are fine with letting me host this in our large conference room that has a tv and a white board. Ideal for a good workshop. The bummer is they don't allow alcohol with out jumping through several policy hoops. So... the beer would have to be an activity afterwards. There's places all over we could migrate towards at 7:30. I feel bad so I'll bring soda and water. Please RSVP accordingly if you can still make it.

Sorry I have to back out of this event. Definitely plan another because I think it will be great.

Hey folks, this is right around the corner. Again I apologize there won't be any beer. Corporate rules are a drag. Well probably take 45 - 60 min on workshopping Mint. After that we should all head out for a drink =)
Are there any specific topics you'd like us to touch on? I'm planning on speaking to basic budgeting and savings philosophies, goal funding, accounting for irregular purchases, and I'll touch on the tax implications of your different long term savings strategies.
I'm open to more topics if there are requests.
    See you all on Thursday!
