Come learn how to effectively free your body of restriction with myofascial release (MFR) self care. Taught by Jeannette Zyderveld, Physical Therapist, expert level Barnes MFR therapist. Each session will be unique and in response to the needs of those present. Myofascial Release is a form of bodywork practiced primarily by physical therapists and massage therapists. John F. Barnes MFR is a unique approach to MFR that is a gentle, full-body and holistic form of body work and stretching/self-care techniques. This Meetup group is about learning how to do self care according to the principles of MFR as taught by John Barnes, PT. It involves using traditional stretches, various positions or pressure with your hands into certain areas of the body. Any one "technique" is held at least 5 minutes. You will be guided how to feel, what release is and how to allow your body to take care of itself. This practice is suitable for people who are very stiff or very flexible. If you have a body, this work is excellent for servicing it. It also helps in becoming more aware in your body. Please bring a donation of $10. For your comfort, wear loose clothing, bring a yoga mat if you have one and a water bottle. Sessions will be and hour and 15 minutes. Venues and dates to be announced soon. First Thursday Evening MFR Self Care

We will do some warm-up followed by Myofascial Release techniques. We will use a small ball (4 inch inflatable) for some of them and two pillows for a couple others. Please have two regular bed pillows and your ball ready and 2 more if you have them for the last one. For those you can also use tennis balls or other small balls.
