• International HSP Gathering Retreat - 4 days

    Gaunts House

I am excited to announce that the 34th (since 2001) HSP Gathering Retreat will be in the U.K, 14-18th June, at Gaunts House, Dorset. There are only 9 of these that have ever taken place outside of the USA. These gatherings were co-created by Jacquelyn Strickland (http://www.lifeworkshelp.com/hspgathering.htm) and Dr Elaine Aron (www.hsperson.com) for the benefit of HSPs. To learn more about Jacquelyn and her background, do listen to this 60 minute Interview. (https://soundcloud.com/sensitive-leadership/jacquelyn-strickland-sensitive-revolutionary) I have co-hosted a number of HSP Gathering Retreats with Jacquelyn in USA, Cananda and Europe. They are residential for four days, in a natural and beautiful setting, and each Gathering has a special theme. It is a chance to learn more about your trait, to find your growing edges and to commune with HSPs in a very rare, HSP-friendly setting. Dr Elaine Aron often attends on one of the days to give a talk and answer questions. One of the beautiful things that I like about these gatherings is the way you can do what you need. None of the things on offer (talks, group discussions, creative opportunities, guidance opportunities) at the Gathering is compulsory, you are encouraged to sleep or rest when you like, and healthy, nourishing meals are provided for you. There is no special requirement in terms of prior knowledge, just be in a good enough place to be a positive companion in the group, whether that is by participating verbally or in action, or simply by your quiet and attentive presence. If you have known about your trait a long time, you will still learn and experience growth here. The gatherings are kept small, maximum is usually approximately 25 attendees, meaning that there is plenty of time to meet needs, learn at depth and make lasting friends. Plan ahead financially if you want to attend. These gatherings are residential, in lovely settings and have internationally well-known and respected leaders. Overall, the gatherings are not only empowering, but life-changing and affirming of your trait. Do come if you can. Every effort is made to keep costs of the Gathering as low as possible. However, for what it is and the fact that the fee includes accommodation, food and the wisdom and support of such HSPs as Dr Elaine Aron and Jacquelyn Strickland means that value for money is not in question. Do consider coming along, I am not sure how many more of these opportunities there will be. Here is a link to the registration form with costs in dollars REGISTRATION (http://lifeworkshelp.com/register/2018/GauntsHouse/index.html). Based on November 2017 currency rates, here is a rough guide to costs for the whole event. Prices include food, the gathering content, use of Gaunts House facilities (swimming pool etc) and accommodation where relevant. Bathrooms are separate but nearby to the room, unless marked ‘ensuite’: Shared twin or triple room £604 Single room £664 Single room, ensuite £704 Shared twin or triple, ensuite £654 Commuter, no overnight accommodation required £474 Camper £490 Gaunts is in a beautiful setting, so a lot to enjoy both indoors and out, including outdoor swimming pool, acres and acres of grounds. They also grow a lot of their own food, so there is a lovely selection of fresh meals :). Last time we were there, attendees could book massages etc, so worth enquiring at Gaunts House if you would like that. If you have a private question, please message me through this site or to [masked] or email Jacquelyn HERE.

  • **Postponed to April - London Professionals CPD - £80

    Needs a location

    £80.00

This will be a one-day training CPD event for therapists and other professionals who would like to understand more about Sensory Processing Sensitivity and how you can be more effective and supportive with highly sensitive clients. Suitable for therapists, coaches, teachers, social workers and health/mental health workers. Venue to be confirmed soon. If you would be interested, please RSVP and pay here by Paypal, or contact Barbara for direct banking details. As professionals, we owe it to our sensitive clients to understand their trait and to work with them appropriately in the context of their sensory processing sensitivity (SPS). Referring to the renowned work of Dr Elaine N Aron and Barbara's extensive experience in the area of SPS, this workshop will explore, through information and discussion, how we identify and work with sensitive people, plus common myths, misdiagnoses and assumptions that can cause professionals to focus on sensitivity as an 'issue' rather than asset. We will look at the importance of awareness and how we as professionals can give our full support to a group who make up the majority of our clients. We will also take time to consider self-care for Professionals who are also highly sensitive, and the joys and challenges of this work for both HSP and non-HSP professionals. Barbara Allen-Williams is the founder of Growing Unlimited Therapeutic Consultancy (2002) and the fledgling National Centre for High Sensitivity (2010). She retired from private practice after 20 years as a therapist and supervisor in April 2013 and uses her experience and observations to promote training, awareness and best practice with highly sensitive adults and children. Training is aimed therapists, parents, social workers, employers, teachers, nursery workers and other professionals. She has a practice in Andover, Hampshire where she runs Meetups and personal development events for sensitive people. She has also co-hosted HSP Gathering Retreats and HSP Workshops and Weekends in UK, Europe and USA.
