PositivelyBlack is an open support and knowledge group for black men and women in the greater Philadelphia area. Each event is meant to be informative and positive with a strong focus on contemporary issues, concerns, and advancements. Events are primarily held in Delaware at the moment, with plans for venues in Philadelphia as group membership expands. The only requirement is that you Show Up, and Speak Up -- who knows, you may inspire someone, or be inspired at the next event.
Respect for the group will be observed at all times (Please see Code of Conduct). Events will include indoor and outdoor activities as necessary.
Please support our charity. 100% of proceeds go directly to supporting NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.
The PositivelyBlack Code of Conduct is one of the ways we put PositivelyBlack values into practice. It is a recognition that what we do at our Meetup events are in our members' best interest, and of the highest possible standards. Respect for the group as a whole, and for each member specifically are paramount to the success of PositivelyBlack and should be supported at every meetup event as well as in group posts.
Who must follow the Code of Conduct?
We expect every member to follow the Code. Failure to do so will include direct warnings, and possibly membership expulsion. You can contact any of the active organizers with Code-related questions.
PositivelyBlack Meetup prohibits the following:
• Solicitation (Guest Speakers are allowed to talk about their organization)
• Drug use
• Excessive alcohol consumption
• Threats of any kind
The group aspires to add value to the community. We want to be a different kind of group - a group that listens and respects the opinions of others without ridicule - a group with a strong desire to learn - to inspire others - provoke thoughts - challenge common beliefs - and have fun.
