After a long and difficult winter, we start our spring season with our annual scilla hunt on the Fox River. Starting at the parking lot by the Fabyan Park Windmill along the Fox River in Geneva we will walk across the footbridge with the hopes of seeing early scilla in bloom and proceed to the Japanese Garden. We will hike along the river where water fowl are often spotted and continue on the dirt path to Batavia where we may stop for an ice cream break if needed . We will cross over the bridge at Batavia so we can see the Fox River from another vantage point as we make our way through a forest and back to the starting point in Geneva all the while looking for early blooming flowers. People who are interested in only a four mile walk may break off when we are back at the Fabyan Park Windmill parking lot. Those of us who crave more exercise and camaraderie will continue walking along the Fox River to St. Charles. In St. Charles we may stop for a caffeine boost at a local coffee house. We will retrace our steps back to the Fabyan Park Windmill parking lot completing a total of ten mile walk. Please bring lunch or a snack, plenty of water, sunscreen if needed, comfortable shoes and dress in layers for the weather.. We will meet on, Saturday March 16at 11 a.m. at the Fabyan Park Windmill parking lot. The Windmill is located off Illinois Rout(Crissey Avenue) in Geneva between Fabyan Parkway on the south and Ill. 38 (State St). on the north on the east side of river. (Please note that some GPS give wrong directions sending you to the Park HQ parking lot on the west side of the river, so check your location.)
