Pine Point Rapids Trail

trail length - 8.2 km (loop)

hike difficulty - easy to moderate

Be sure to pack some water & a lunch.
Pine Point is a very popular trail through a lush forest of tall spruce and jackpine. It boasts some of the finest scenery in the Whiteshell. Our route takes us out to a spectacular rapids where we can picnic beside the rushing water.
The Whiteshell River gushes over a bed of granite in a series of rapids before subsiding in a quiet pool. The view is breathtaking and the ‘young at heart’ love sliding in the rushing water.
Pine Point Rapids is an 8.2 km. trail that passes between two sharply different communities typical to the Whiteshell: a mixed-wood forest and a rock outcrop. You will see jack pine, blueberries, sumac, lichens, bur oak, dogwood and cranberry among many others. White-tailed deer, waterfowl and turtles are some of the wildlife you may sight. This is a great trail to take your hot dogs and marshmallows, as fire pits are provided.

This event is open to Prairie Pathfinder walking club members (i.e. members who have paid an annual $25. fee) and guests.

This is one of my favourite hikes. It's not too difficult. The scenery is amazing, breath-taking. And the location is one of the best in Manitoba. A great opportunity to have an uplifting experience.

Pine Points is a "must" trail. Will always be a favourite with me. The Prairie Pahfinders group are all wonderful, friendly, fun people. My daughter (Theresa) & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.-------------CHARLES HOUSTON----------------

Lovely walk through typical Whiteshell forest and rock. The rapids were also quite unique.

A good choice, Wendy. A fun day, perfect weather, and good ice cream at Skinner's on the way home!

Sweet indeed! Lovely, shady, non-rigouous walk - beautiful views. Picnic with feet in flowing water. Could not have been better! Thanks, Wendy! Lynne Mitchell-Pedersen

I would like to car-pool, as a passenger or a driver. I live in Windsor Park, so if I drive, I would be looking for passengers that I could pick up in the St. Boniface/St. Vital area.
