The weather should be perfect for one of the most beautiful locations in the state.
This is a two night trip. Friday night will be a car camp at the Lost Dutchman's State Park campground. Lost Dutchman requires a $15 per car fee so it is definitely a good idea to carpool. Saturday morning finds us leaving the campground and driving 3 miles to the First Water trailhead for the backpacking portion of the trip. The second night will be spent on the trail.
Here is a view from our campsite last trip:
The route is an approximate 17-mile loop. The terrain is mostly moderate with a few steep climbs. There is a planned destination but, being a wilderness area, there are no formal campgrounds. We can camp almost anywhere. The plan is to set up camp then relax or explore as one wishes. We will be camping near Charlebois Spring which is a reliable year round spring. Bring a filtration device.
Here are the hike details:
The campground is first come first served, so if we have anyone able to head down earlier in the day that would be great too.
