7550 Arizona 69 , Pescott Valley, AZ
This is a classic Sedona hike with all the beauty of the area. I have put a couple trails together here to make a loop hike and add a little distance.
We will leave at 7 Saturday morning making it to the Bear Sign/Secret Canyon Trailhead around 8:30. You can check out the description for that here: http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=178 We will hike the loop counter clockwise and will come across the Secret canyon trail about 4 miles in. Description here http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=116. We will take that trail as far as we like and find a camp spot. If we go all the way to the end of the main canyon we will have completed 8 miles for the day leaving 5 miles out. In the morning we will head back up to the canyon to complete the loop. The first part of this hike has an elevation gain of approximately 500', the rest of the hike should be pretty easy.
We can stop at Oak Creek Brewery for a late lunch before heading home.
Here is an overview of the loop, the red part is the Secret Canyon portion.
There is not reliable water on this hike, so you must pack all your water.
