Competition Information

Monthly club competitions consist of print or digital images, depending on the competition (the monthly list of meeting topics and competitions can be found here). Members may submit one image per competition. Prints are displayed on racks and digital images are displayed on a projector.

Starting in 2015, competitions are judged by a panel of judges as well as members selecting a image based on popular vote.

Image Submission Information

  • No print dimension greater than 20 inches allowed
  • Mounted on a mat board with no side to exceed
  • No glass or frames allowed
  • Images must be submitted for consideration before 5:30.

Digital competitions occur several times a year.
Images are submitted via email no later than 7 days prior to the competition. Please submit a JPG file with a recommended maximum resolution of 1920x1080 utilizing the sRGB colorspace. For more information on digital image submission, please see here.

The goal of the judged competition is to specifically score each submission against set criteria: impact (30 pts), composition (10 pts), and technical (20 pts). First, second, and third prizes are awarded based on this 60-point system. In addition to the judges' scores, we also select a "People's Choice" award selected by vote of the members.

By scoring submissions in this way, photographers are given quantitative feedback that they can utilize to continue to improve their craft. This is aligned to one of the key tenets of the PCC: to facilitate the art and science of your photography.

The judging criteria is further explained in PCC Judging Criteria and Scoring.

Some winners from our various competitions are shown in our Competition Gallery.
