We really appreciate the time you took and the effort you made to respond as you did to my comments. The whole thing, the evening and then my words, made us think a lot too. My directness has gotten me into a lot of trouble at times. I was a little afraid to go to my email, and I felt my adrenalin shoot up when I saw there were new comments. But your messages explained a lot and I feel the whole episode reinforce the idea that it is better to get things out in the open. Thank you again, we look forward to seeing you at another event. Rita and Alva.

We live an hour away and only attend occasionally. We arrived early but didn't feel very welcomed when later arrivals found seats as far away from us as possible. The last arrivals, with no place else to sit, sat next to us but the lady next to my wife had her back turned to my wife the whole time. Maybe the problem lies in our different interpretations of the term "free thinker." Among the friends I have had there have been "born again" Christians, Buddhists, atheists, red neck Vietnam vets, homosexual activists, cowboys, sailors, financiers and bums. Our experience last night made me think maybe "free thinkers" are just as clannish as any other sect. I am an agnostic but I find wise council can be found in many and diverse places. For instance Proverbs tells us "Every way of man is right in his own eyes but the Lord ponders the heart:" Our motivation reveals our selves

Or maybe it just that we aren't all that likeable. That's valid.

    Now that's free thinking. Alva

I'm sorry you both had a bad experience at dinner. I don't know why those things happened, but it surely was not considerate. I'm glad that you said something, though, because I know that sometimes we get comfortable with friends we know and if we are tired or unadventerous we let the familiarity of the folks we already know keep us from getting to know newer members. I am disappointed that happened.

Cori said basically what I wanted to. I saw this last night before bed and it bothered me all night. I am not great in crowds with people I don't know well and by nature not adventurous at all. I've been attending for just over a year and it's only in the last few months that I've become comfortable with more of the regulars. I am also very sorry you felt that way. It was certainly not personal in any way. It is my own insecurities that guide me in those situations.

More likely than not, I won't be back in time from L.A.
