Geocaching at Willow Lake and POTLUCK

  • Willow Lake

3181 Willow Creek Road, Prescott Valley, AZ (map)

    34.591805 -112.428352

  • Let's go Geocaching!

This is a fun & challenging activity. The object is to find hidden containers, which will contain a logbook/sheet & possibly a few small items for trading, using GPS coordinates.

Meet at the ramada near the boat landing.

There is a $3 parking fee at the lake.

Potluck: After the geocaching, let's have a potluck at the lake.

I will bring grills and cook some hot dogs/brats/sauages.

Bring your side dishes, salads, and desserts! - Kevin

Geocaching: Some hiking is involved, so be sure to wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes. We typically go at a slow pace and stay on the trails and paths, but some of the “finds” are off the trail a bit.

Bring: a water bottle, camera, sunscreen, walking sticks.

A handheld GPS device of some kind (with fully charged battery) is helpful, as well as a pen or pencil & notepad. Extraction tools, such as tweezers or needle-nose pliers, may also come in handy. Also, if you can bring a few small items to leave in the caches, it adds to the fun.

Downloadable GPS apps are available for your phone or tablet.

Follow this link to learn more or for a free app: http://www.geocaching.com/guide/ The smartphone app is also available from Google Play Store. The iPhone app is available from the iPhone App Store. Stay tuned for more details or for any changes.

I recommend preparing ahead of time by downloading the geocaching app to your phone, if needed. Or if you plan to use a GPS, here's a video you may find helpful.
