• STAGE PRESENCE 101 (THIS WEEK ONLY)

    Still Mind Zendo

Usually we meet weekly to practice mindfulness + improv, but this week will be a little different in that actress and coach Kat Rogers will be coming to guest facilitate a workshop on stage presence. Using mindfulness tools, Kat will be leading exercises to feel more present, free and comfortable in any performance or public speaking setting. • Presence@Play: Mindfulness + Improv NYC

    Still Mind Zendo

What if we saw life more as a playground and less as a prison? This is a weekly drop-in practice group that fuses the practice of presence with the play of improvisational comedy. Each week we practice mindfulness meditation, getting into our bodies and grounding in the here and now, before embarking on a wild ride of improvisational games, movement and acted-out stories, weaved together with the art of being present. Together we cultivate connection, presence and playfulness that we'll learn to take with us into our day-to-day lives. No experience in either mindfulness practice or improv is required to show up. All levels welcome :) We meet every Monday night, 7:15 - 9:30 PM. This is a donation-based space--no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Suggested donation to help pay the space rent is $15 if we have under 8 people and $10 if we have over 8. About the main facilitator, Shea Riester: Shea has been a buddhist meditation practitioner for 10 years and trained as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher at U. Mass Medical School. He has been teaching mindfulness for 5+ years and facilitating mindfulness and improv workshops for 2+ years. Shea trained in improv comedy with the awesome masters of improv at Improv Boston in Cambridge, MA. You can email Shea at [masked] or text/call him at[masked] for questions. :) ♥
