Our journey from untested legacy shared code base to isolated microservices

Akos Toth-Mate (Prezi): Prezi: the journey from version 1.0 to 1.99

I joined Prezi when we had only one repository for all the code we had, when we had no tests and all the engineers could watch the same laptop display while deploying. The company and the product grew exponentially since then. Now we have almost hundred engineers with robust processes and infrastructure. And we still have code running in production from that one repository in the beginning.

My talk will not cover the shiny new future but the journey from the crazy childhood through the maturing process to the very happy, care-free end of the the old code. Learnings, regretted decisions, success stories all along the way.

Akos is the tech lead manager of the Core Product team. He loves data driven feature development and is passionate about UX. He joined Prezi in the early days, therefore he's one of the engineers in the company who has the biggest knowledge about our systems.

Pierre Ingmansson (Prezi) — How to upgrade stateful servers without downtime

Prezi Collaboration uses a stateful in-memory chat server to synchronize changes between users that have the same Prezi open. In this talk I will explain the architecture of this system, how we make it scalable and how to deploy new code to our stateful servers without downtime.

Pierre is a full stack web developer at Prezi working with everything from infrastructure to implementing web designs. He is passionate about distributed systems, clean code, drumming and chicken wings.
