I heard of the group through a friend of mine at work. I live in South City, near Francis park.
I fully adopted the lifestyle near the end of 2011(and never going back!). I had been eating pretty low carb for about a year before that but was still afraid of fat during that period and still ate a decent amount of grains. I was referred to MDA by a coworker and what really interested me was the simplicity of it all. No counting calories, no endless hours of cardio, and I suppose I could say that being able to eat some foods I previously had cut out had a little something to do with it as well(bacon!).
I'm not very picky and would be up for a wide variety of activities. A few examples would be any sort of sport or competitive activity, anything involving dogs would be great, BBQs or parties, etc.
Not being able to eat desserts, sandwiches, pizza, etc was difficult to adapt to at first, but I've learned to cope. I really don't have any serious issues with the lifestyle at this point, never felt better.
I would just like to explore the lifestyle a bit more to see what else it has to offer. I'm still a relative newcomer and have a lot more that I need to try out and learn!
