TOPIC: Product is Hard
Marty Cagan has been coaching product people and teams for many years, and mostly the questions he gets are straightforward, but occasionally he will get a truly tough question. The type that doesn't have a clear cut answer, and it's not obvious what the best course of action might be, but can really make a difference in your success. In this talk, he will be posing these questions, and then he will be sharing his opinions and reasoning. Nothing pertaining to product is off limits. We'll talk about politics, culture and even (process) religion. We'll discuss prioritization and decision making, especially when we don't have as much data as we'd like; handling very difficult people especially senior executives; managing conflict on the team; dealing with low morale; changing company culture; regaining control of your time, and picking your battles. We will also have a Q&A where you can pose your own tough questions.
