As our trial of alternative formats last year worked so well, we will be running a workshop for the 1st ProductTank Brum of the year.

THE WORKSHOP:

The workshop will be led by a regular ProductTank Brum member, Simon Knight. This workshop will look at the product manager interview, the key skills and competencies product teams should and will be looking for, which product managers should be able to demonstrate.

During this experimental (and fun!) exercise, we will explore the skills and competencies associated with product management, and devise some techniques to test for their presence under job interview conditions - with a twist…

Primarily, the discussion is intended to be a fun start to a new year in product, but we hope that you will take away some insights into:

* which PM skills are valued most by the community & marketplace
* ways to test for the presence of PM competencies in candidates (or demonstrate them when looking for a new PM role)
* some new tools for facilitating creative thinking and discussion

THE LIGHTNING TALK:

We are also pleased to welcome Benedicta Banga who will be delivering a Lightning talk in keeping with the theme: The Art of Being the Desirable Product Manager

In this brief talk you will get a framework you can apply to every interview. Benedicta will share the qualities you need to bring to a product interview so you stand out as the desirable candidate by demonstrating Soft Skills, Technical Competence and Domain expertise.
