As consumers, our online shopping experience can seem quite simple and transparent. We don’t really think about what it takes for merchants to fulfil orders, shipped them, manage returns or just set up coupon codes. However, a lot of though and care has been put into building products that enable those (hopefully) seamless experiences.
This event is about the various issues that arise from building the products necessary to power those experiences and how various companies have been started to solve provide it.

1. Guillaume Racine, Return Magic (acquired by Shopify)
Guillaume is co-founder & CEO at Return Magic. He is also Product Lead for the Returns Team, based in Montreal. Before founding Return Magic Guillaume worked at Amazon and at Yieldify, an e-commerce software backed by Google Ventures (GV). In his free time he loves to connect and help other founders, as a mentor or investor.
2. Maya Botti, BoxKnight
BoxKnight is a same-day and scheduled delivery service for e-commerce merchants, picked up from storefronts and powered by the gig economy.
Maya Botti is the cofounder and COO of BoxKnight, and is part of FounderFuel’s 2019 startup cohort. She has a background in Law and Engineering from UdeM and Concordia, and was an early hire at Sonder.
3. Prarthana Johnson & Veenit Malik, Shopify
Shopify is a cloud-hosted commerce platform that lets merchants start, grow, and manage their business online and offline.
Prarthana Johnson is a senior product manager lead for the merchandising team at Shopify whose objective is to help merchants sell the right products, at the right price, at the right place, at the right time, to the right customer.
Veenit Malik is a software developer on the pricing team at Shopify Montreal. He focuses on shipping code to enable merchants to create right pricing strategy. He is former java developer turned ruby developer. Before Shopify, he was working in telecom with focus on SMS, MMS and enriched messaging.
4. Steve Desjarlais, Heyday
Heyday is a conversational AI platform for retailers. Heyday puts conversations at the center of the shopping experience for marketing campaigns, and customer service and sales teams.
Steve Desjarlais is the CEO and co-founder of Heyday, a graduate of both CDL (Creative Destruction Lab) ’18 and L-Spark ’18 accelerators. Armed with a degree in computer engineering, he has previously managed teams of 75 developers at Ubisoft Montreal, and has worked on games such as R6 Siege, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Far Cry 4.
