“Short story, about delivering value not delivering story.”

Do you celebrate completed sprints? Do you celebrate successful releases? Great!
But do you know what you celebrate? Do you know what you delivered? Do you ask anybody outside if they share your excitement? Do you?
Well today I do but it was not always like that. I would like to share with you my story how Polish teacher (born in 19th century) and his school book changed my approach to delivering product and why it is important to know when and what to celebrate in product development.

“What If Software Was Made Like Board Games?”

I will tell you a story. A story about making a software product. But I will tell it to you like a board game designer, not like a software developer. I will tell you what it would look like if I, a game designer, were to make software.
I will tell you about making a prototype that looks like crap. About tearing it to pieces. About meeting with people and listening to them cursing at my creation for its own good. Regularly. About the epiphany and the refinement. About simplicity, and why some features get sacrificed in the name of it. About doing just the amount of work to tell you that you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place.
The story might be funny. It might be inspirational or unsettling. It may sound like a dream, or like some alternate reality.
Perhaps like one worth trying.
