ProductTank February - Roadmaps and Prioritisation

Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square

** ProductTank February - Roadmaps and Prioritisation** This month's ProductTank is focusing on roadmaps and prioritisation - in start-ups all the way through to large enterprise companies. The speakers will share lessons learned and provide practical tips you can take away with you. This event has been curated by ProductTank co-organiser Liz Clow https://www.linkedin.com/in/lizclow/ -------------------------------------------------------- Ahmed El-Sharkasy, CEO & Co-Founder at Knowledge Officer https://linkedin.com/in/elsharkasy Ahmed will be talking about the importance of a roadmap in a start-up environment, including how to keep it lightweight and aligned to OKRs. Plus, he will share his insight on common mistakes and best practices. Ahmed is a software engineer and product manager with more than 7 years of experience working in world-class startups in the Middle East and Europe. He has previously worked at Bkam & Onfido and is currently the CEO and Co-founder of Knowledge Officer, a London-based EdTech startup with a mission to build the shortest and most efficient path to employment and career progression. He has also been included in the list of top 100 influencers in Edtech by the EdTech Digest. Ren Yi Hooi, Product Director at Railsbank https://www.linkedin.com/in/renyihooi/ Ren will share her insights on roadmap development and prioritisation in the context of a rapidly scaling B2B startup, including a candid review of key challenges in her experience and steps which may be taken to overcome them. She will also speak about how working in a scaling business has impacted team structure and how it aligns with the roadmap. Ren has global experience in product management, strategy and operations across a range of organisations in Asia, Europe, Africa and the US. She currently leads the product team at Railsbank, a rapidly scaling Banking-as-a-Service startup. Prior to this, Ren launched the Malaysia market for BIMA, a microinsurance provider in emerging markets, and was a strategy consultant at Bain & Company. Emily Tate, Chief of Staff, Mind the Product https://www.linkedin.com/in/thedailyem/ Prioritising a backlog is a technically simple task - you just have to list what to work on next. So why is it so hard? The reality is that prioritisation is an art. There is no formula that can tell you with certainty what the priority should be, and many of the tricks we try to put in place to make prioritisation "easier" actually cause the team to work on unimportant things. Emily's talk aims to open a discussion that will help you embrace the messiness of prioritisation, and appreciate the art of the craft. Emily is Chief of Staff for Mind the Product. Prior to that she spent over 10 years in product leadership as a consultant with Pivotal Labs and product manager in the travel industry. She started her career managing software solutions for airlines before taking her experience to the traveler’s side of the journey as the product manager for a leading travel management app, TripCase. Emily is passionate about the craft of product management and loves talking about new ways to make products people love. She was listed as one of “52 Women Making an Impact in Product Management.” -------------------------------------------------------- A huge thanks to our sponsoring partner this month, Intelligent People - https://intelligentpeople.co.uk/ - a long standing ProductTank partner.
