We'll have plenty of time at the start and end of the meetup for tasty beverages and networking. --- Putting research into action with design sprints Lisa Orr, Senior Product Manager, Airship At Airship, the product team has invested in learning continuous discovery principles and applying that methodology to developing product. In this talk, I'll share our experience running design sprints at Airship and how it has benefited us in roadmap planning and in developing an overall vision for the future of mobile marketing. Lisa is a Senior Product Manager at Airship where she heads up the orchestration product team. Before joining the product team she was a data scientist at Airship and lead the development of the predictive product suite. She has a PhD in psychology from University of St. Andrews. --- Integrating Product and UX Through A Design Thinking Lens Leo Frishberg Sr. Manger User Experience, Home Depot Quote Center The Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) is often presented linearly: Idea, Strategy, Plan, Development, Launch, Enhance and Sunset. But we know that sequence is a grand over-simplification. In his talk, Frishberg describes a more nuanced approach to the SDLC in which Product, UX and Technology participate iteratively and in ways that may just as likely move "backward" in the SDLC as forward. Frishberg applies Design Thinking frameworks to illustrate a Product/UX game plan that his team uses at The Home Depot Quote Center. In presenting the SDLC through the lens of four "Mega-plays" you will see how to drive robust engagements with your teams, your stakeholders and your customers to discover, define, design and deliver solutions that matter. With decades of experience in design management and design—as both a bricks-and-mortar architect and a UX designer—Leo drives highly differentiated and innovative solutions. As Principal of Phase II, Leo delivers vision, strategy and innovation through a UX lens. Previously, as Product Design Manager at Intel, he led UX teams on mission-critical programs. As Principal UX Architect for Tektronix’s Logic Analyzer product line, he spearheaded product vision and definition for the next generation of instruments. Leo is a licensed architect, Certified Scrum Product Owner, holds five patents and is co-author of the Morgan Kaufmann book Presumptive Design: Design Provocations for Innovation.
