Mother's Day Picnic & Paddle in Lincoln Park & Lincoln Creek
Paddle with us to discover and celebrate urban wilderness paddling in Lincoln Park where Lincoln Creek joins the Milwaukee River. AND join us for a BYO, Mother's Day Picnic. Picnic at noon, Paddle at 1 pm. This month, we are joining the Sierra Club to explore Lincoln Creek first and then, time permitting, explore the beautiful and wild East Oxbow of Lincoln Park with its cattails, waterfowl and a beaver lodge. Explore a 50 acre pond with multiple channels and islands. The route is appropriate for canoes or kayaks. We plan to put in and take out at the same landing, not shuttling. Some stretches of water are fairly calm and appropriate for novice paddlers, most of the time. Some areas are only accessible by upstream paddling that may require a higher level of paddle skills. We will accommodate all levels of paddlers but some previous paddling experience is recommended. High or low water may affect the route or force cancellation if high/fast water makes the route unsafe. Check the weather and watch for updates or changes to this meetup closer to the paddle date. • Bring your own Kayak or Canoe. Rentals may be available - check back or ask the organizer Kayak loan is available to members of the Urban Ecology Center ( (Worth the cost of membership - requires an orientation class) Keep a change of dry clothes in your car and always wear a PFD. A PFD is required by state law.

    What we're about

    Public Group

Project Paddle is a group to bring people together who have a common interest in water sports from kayaks to canoes to floating down the river in an inner tube. Our goal is to build a community of paddlers in Milwaukee that includes first timers and veterans of the sport. This group is for anyone who enjoys an afternoon paddle or a multi day river camp adventure.
