Film Screening - The Greenhorns at AS220!

  • Feb 22, 2013 · 5:30 PM

Join me at a film screening of The Greenhorns hosted by Southside Community Lands Trust in partnership with Whole Foods Market. This documentary was produced by Severine von Tscharner Fleming, a Rhode Island native, and features the stories of young farmers across the country.

The screening starts at 6:00, but I'll be getting there at 5:30. This place isn't huge and tends to fill up quickly as far as seating. Usually there is plenty of standing room in the back if you get there late.

After the film, you can stay for a panel discussion with several Providence-based urban farmers. You'll also have the opportunity to hear important updates on the work of the Urban Agriculture Task Force.

Thanks to those that came out to see this screening! It was a fun documentary about farming which in included some farms right here in RI. It was inspirational and also wonderful to hear from some young adults who were on the panel afterward talk about why food production was so important to them. It was a terrific introduction to the Southside Community Land Trust and the work they do as well. They will have another screening of a different movie in March. We'll be there too! Oh, and we all got super handy re-usable grocery bags from Whole Foods too!

Hi Elsbeth! Thank you for the info. I think I will be fine and find a parking space then. Thanks again and see you there.

There are also a few garages in that area as well if you prefer.

Hi Leila! There isn't a parking place for AS220 specifically, but there is on-street parking all around Empire St. Most of the spaces are metered so bring a quarter or two just in case. Parking downtown is free after 6pm, but if you want to come a little earlier, you will have to feed the meter until then. The spaces are usually turning over around 5-6pm, so it shouldn't be too hard to find a spot. Just keep trolling until you find one!

H!! Since I am not used to drive in Providence, would you have any tip on parking? Does the place have a parking lot / garage? Thank you :o)
