Evolution is all about natural selection, right?  That's all Darwin talked about, right?  And nothing much has been added to the picture since Darwin's day, right?

Biology Professor Mindy Walker will enlighten us on the fuller picture of evolution's mechanisms, the agents of change, both from what Darwin discovered and from what biologists have been discovering since then. What do we now know about what drives evolution?

Says Mindy:  "One of the most common misconceptions about evolution is that it is caused by a single force, Darwinian
natural selection.  There are, however, five mechanisms of evolution; and I will discuss each of these and its role in changing gene frequencies in populations over time."

Lots of solid info, lots of opportunity for your questions and comments, too.

Mindy Walker, Ph.D., teaches Biology of the Contemporary Scene, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy Lab, Evolution, Human Anatomy & Physiology I, Cell Basis for Anatomy & Physiology, General Biology II and Biology Field Trip, at Rockhurst University.

Come early at 6:30 or 6:45 to grab a salad supper or something from the café — and to get to know people.

Afterward:  The conversations continue at the Blue Moose (a minute away on the north side of the shopping center on the NW corner of 101st and Woodland).

That sounds like a great plan Thomas. I couldn't not make this one and would have loved to see her lecture on YouTube. If she does it again I won't miss it.
