Dr. Mooon will talk about why she has chosen this way of viewing the world, as opposed to either atheism or theism.  And she will clear up for us once and for all the distinctions between pantheism, monotheism, polytheism, theism, deism, panentheism, panpsychism, and panexistentialism.

Her discussion will pry apart the general confusions between them while admitting that pantheism is not easy to define precisely.  But she will begin with the commonly accepted definitions:  Monotheism accepts one God, polytheism many.  Theism asserts that God has revealed Himself, deism that God created the world in such a way that it is capable of existing and operating on its own.  Panentheism affirms that in God there is a primordial and unchanging nature and thus a consequent nature that changes and develops. Panpsychism is most often confused with animism, hylozoism, panbiotism, pansensism, pantheism, panentheism and panexperientialism.

Dr. Mooon will explain how the term pantheism has often been abused, and how it has also been confused or mingled with everything from materialism to atheism to theism.

About Dr. Mooon:

Dr. Rainbow Mooon grew up thinking everyone could talk to the animals and plants and see people who had crossed over because she could. Finally, at about age nine, her grandmother informed her she needed to keep that information secret, since folks would think she was crazy if she kept going around sharing what she'd heard from "dead people." At age twelve she stood up to her matriarchal family to exclaim that she was now about Her Father's business in helping to heal wounded hearts and bodies. This did NOT go over well at home, but was tremendously rewarding for her among her classmates.

She was then a Seventh-Day Adventist and remained in the church until in her early twenties when she decided to explore other beliefs that incorporated recognizing all of Nature as a part of the Divine. In the mid-80s she was initiated as an urban shaman based on her Native American and African heritage and began a life of healing on multiple dimensions. Then in December of 1990 she was inner-directed to publicly marry her Spirit Husband, which changed everything. No longer considering herself a Christian, she adopted a shamanic perspective most closely related to Hinduism.

By 2000 she was told by her Spirit Guides to return to school to expand her formal education. She received in undergraduate degree (2002) in Sociology; her graduate degree (2005) is in Social and Cultural Anthropology; and in May of 2013 she received her doctorate in Philosophy and Religion specializing in Asian and Comparative Studies. Her dissertation focused on the evolution of human consciousness, which includes projections for the future of our species. Dr. Mooon looks forward to sharing her experiences and research on pantheism and the evolution of the philosophies related to these ideas.

Hello Rainbow! Looking forward to your presentation. Would you mind if I recorded your presentation for someone unable to attend? Any restrictions you might want would be fully complied with.

Fred: as you know, I'll not be there, but I'd certainly appreciate any semblance of an abstract you might provide, thank you. Bob Hooper

I would be willing to make a recording if you'd like. I can only offer my phone, but it can record the duration if plugged in. I'll check with Fred and Dr. Mooon first, of course. There's been a few presentations that I couldn't make it to that I wish I could have heard.

I'm very excited for this one. I feel like I have only recently understood some of the pantheistic worldviews, (mostly panpsychism) and I'm sure Dr Mooon will much further enlighten me.

I am a Pantheist of a different stripe than this description so far. Looking forward to hearing Dr. Mooon's distinctions between the -isms.

I wish I could be there but I'll be out of the state when the day rolls around. I look forward to meeting you in March though.
