  • Speaking and Leadership Open Event

    Golden Lion hotel

Have you ever heard a great speech that has made you feel good? How about a speech that inspired you to do something? At Huntingdonshire Speakers Club we work towards improving people's public speaking skills and, in turn, improving their leadership skills. We use a proven programme from Toastmasters International to do this and assist people in a productive and supportive learning environment. Our club recently moved to St. Ives and we would love to get to know you all much better. Tonight we are holding a free event and are inviting members of the public and professional communities to come and find out more. We are putting on a treat for those who do come. We have Vinette Hoffman-Jackson, who competed at the 2017 World Championship of Speaking semi-finals performing a speech as well as some local seasoned speakers. There will be a small buffet and some refreshments for those who do come, and we will have the Mayor of St. Ives to welcome you all too. Our meetings are on the first and third Wednesday of every month at Brampton Golf Club, starting a 18:30. See our website for more details - www.huntingdonshirespeakers.co.uk We run our meetings in a warm and friendly environment, taking a professional approach to providing variety and opportunity for all to improve their ability through practice and experience. We focus on five key areas: 1. Public Speaking 2. Interpersonal Communication 3. Leadership 4. Management 5. Confidence We do things differently to traditional training courses where you spend, say, a week learning a subject. Our education programme is a continuous programme of self improvement, run at your own pace, allowing you to use your own learning style to get the most from your membership - it is extremely effective, but more importantly, great fun! You don't need to bring anything special with you though a pen would be useful. We love having guests at our meetings and are always interested to find out how we can benefit them. Most people are surprised at how much we have to offer them. We hold our meetings on the first floor of the club, where we have use of a large room. We have a relaxed dress code and the only thing that we ask is that people are supportive and respectful. In terms of refreshments, the club has a bar, which serves hot and cold beverages and we provide drinking water during our meetings too. Interested? Why not pop along as our guest for the evening and see what we can do to help you? It doesn't cost anything to come as a guest, and we're used to hosting several guests on any evening. If you want to find out more you can visit our website at www.huntingdonshirespeakers.co.uk or please feel free to contact our Vice President of Membership, George Anderson at [masked] or our club President, Darren Walton at [masked]
