Over his career, Panditji has been a recipient of numerous awards of international recognition. These include the Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar, India’s highest award in recognition of one’s contribution to performing arts in 1983, the Padma Vibhushan (2000) India’s second highest civilian award, the Dinanath Mangeshkar Award (2000) and the Konark Samman (1992) among others. He has also been honoured by the Dutch Royal family and the French Ministry of Culture.
