This will be a regular meetup (beer+pizza) at AHL like last month.
Note: Please use your full real names where signing up, otherwise we have problems with building security.
Our main speakers will be:
Minh Hoang : "High Performance Computation with Intel Xeon Phi applications in finance and machine learning."
Abstract: In this talk I will discuss about how one can take advantage of high performance computation capability of Intel Xeon and Xeon Phi from hardware to software. I will share our success story on integrating our python-based asset modelling platform with C/C++/Fortran code on Xeon and Xeon Phi. Our newly developed low latency remote-procedure call framework based on Intel's symmetric communication interface (SCIF) is also be discussed. Performance gains on financial applications and Gaussian processes optimisation will also be reported, e.g., computation time from roughly 26 hours to just 90 seconds."
Pete Owlett of Deliveroo is offering a talk on “Send more riders! Predictive scheduling for an on demand delivery fleet”
With Lightnings talks:
• Vincent Damian Warmerdam (http://www.meetup.com/PyData-London-Meetup/members/43728692/) on finding "An optimal portfolio of pokemon" in which he makes the simplest recommendation engine for Pokemon (and a 5 min community announce for PyData Amsterdam)
• Kim Nilsson (http://www.meetup.com/PyData-London-Meetup/members/79225832) on S2DS “Set all Data Scientists free! A few thoughts on the benefits of working distributed”
Doors open at 6.30 (get there early as you have to sign-in via AHL's security), talks start at 7pm, beers from 9pm in the bar, We normally have > 200 folk in the room so there's plenty of people to discuss data science questions with!
Please remember to unRSVP if you realise you can't make it, we're limited by Security on the numbers so we need you to free up your place if you're not able to attend.
And make sure you follow @pydatalondon for any updates and early announcements. See you on the 2nd at AHL!
