PyLadies South Bay: Tacklethon (Study Group)

DESCRIPTION:

Whether you're brand new to coding or a seasoned Python wrangler, it's easy to let intimidation keep you from growing. What's the next level for you?

Here's your chance to tackle that challenge in a fun, supportive environment in order to reach the next level -- or take that very first step.

This is a casual study group with an informal goal of escaping that comfort zone. All we ask is that you skip the familiar fare and bring something a little scary to work on -- or we can make suggestions based on your skill level and group people together if they share a particular interest.

Write your very first program in Codecademy. Boldly import new Python modules that (almost) no one has imported before. Master an algorithm. Take a microframework for a spin. No matter your goal, you can benefit from an environment dedicated to banning procrastination and biting the bullet.

DETAILS

This event is open to women, friends of PyLadies, and anyone else interested in supporting diversity in tech. While this is a Bring Your Own Bravery event (no "liquid courage," please), pizza and beverages will be provided.

Enter on the Orleans side of the building, not the Baltic Way side -- we'll gather in the lobby there, and check back for any stragglers. If you're waiting long, text Jen at[masked] and she'll let you in.

This is a casual event -- showing up whenever you can is fine, though you may have to text to get in.

Thanks for a great night of coding everyone. Really enjoyed the relaxed environment. Hope to make it to more events. I have become BFF with Code Academy:)

Just to make sure I understand, this only applies after return if you're trying to return an object? It looks like for most curly brace uses, like defining functions or blocks, the line break won't cause a problem.

Last night's meetup was so incredibly useful! Take that, procrastination! Looking very forward to future study groups!

Hi, Julie! Glad you're going to be able to make it, even if just for a short time. I haven't really settled on a day of the week yet, so only the next two Tacklethons are scheduled and we can revise from there if another day works better for a lot of people.

I'm totally new to coding. I just started doing tutorials on CodeAcademy and really need some proper encouragement. Really looking forward to challenging myself with this fantastic group of women and women in tech supporters!
