Python August Meetup

Dear Python Friends,

Join us for this month's Python Toronto Meetup at G Adventures!

Come for an evening of food, drinks, and talks.

Speaking of talks, you should give a talk! Tell us about something interesting you've built, a neat tool you've used, or a terrible way you've misused Python. Contact David Wolever ([masked]) ahead of time to let him know, or just show up! Note: unless specific arrangements are made ahead of time, talks should be no more than 7 minutes long.

G Adventures is an adventure travel pioneer offering the planet's most awe-inspiring selection of affordable small-group tours, safaris and expeditions with a strong focus on sustainable tourism.

The travel industry has many slow moving players, but G Adventures is unlike those. We love Python, build modern Javascript applications, just launched a REST API, and are moving full steam ahead on disrupting the industry.

We also have a pretty cool office as well, so come check us out!

I haven't uploaded the presentation I did either, but the main point is that matplotlib is incredibly easy to get started with. Don't look at the examples section to learn (uncommented code!), at least not initially. The tutorial is excellent: .

    Great meet-up. Thanks everyone.

My presentation is mostly live coding, but if you're looking for the completed Dockerfile and code you can find it at

or on the docker registry at

Thank to everyone who asked questions. If you have any more feel free to reach out to me as I'm always happy to help getting people started with Docker.

I was just wondering, do the links from any of the presentations last night get posted anywhere here? Would be appreciated if they were. Thanks.
