2015 Kickoff! - Tracking Resolution(s) + Habit Formation Discussion

January 2015 - Tracking Resolution(s) & Habit Formation.

We will begin the New Year on Tuesday, January 20th @ 6:30PM with a 2015 Kick-Off event - where you can share or develop your Tracking Resolution(s) and earn more about how to follow it through with a discussion on Habit Formation as it pertains to the QS space.

For inspiration as to what you can do in the following ~365 days, check out the Feltron Reports - a brilliant synthesis of data and design by Nicholas Feltron - who chronicles his communication in a new way,  year-by-year.

Or check out this article by Fast Company - detailing How to "Nail your New Year's Resolution" by "Quantifying Yourself"

Lastly - want a Sneak Peak at what else is coming for 2015? Check out St. Louis' own QS blog:

For our meetup Tuesday, we invite you to share your personal ‘knowledge through numbers’ goals for the new year. My number one priority this year is to improve my sleep: I tend to get 4 to 6 hours of low quality sleep a night (with hints of sleep apnea). I can kick off the session by spending a few minutes sharing my target goals, what I plan on tracking, what devices I'll use (some pretty cool ones!), and what environment/behavior changes I'll try. I’m curious if others have experience in this realm.

Quick Note on the Meeting Area for tonight: We will be on the 5th Floor of TREx in the Classroom Space. There is another event taking place in the Main/Bar area, and the Classroom is toward the Back-Left Corner.

The QS Main (International) Blog just published their own collection of "How to Represent a Year in Numbers." Great timing! You can check it out here:

And if others are interested, I'm considering anonymizing our resolutions from tomorrow night and compiling them into an entry on our QuantifiedSTL blog. Will keep the group posted!

Thanks Jamie, for starting us off!

On my end - I'll be sharing one of my new resolutions from the Open Data Health Hack this past weekend - to either make/find a way to Open Source my Heart Rate data (collected via iPhone/iOS).
