Salam All,

Sorry for the late notice but Brother Tariq who was organizing the event has asked me reschedule the event to April 25th. Please update your calenders accordingly. Inshallah the exhibition will be next Sunday April 25th at Noon. Due to late notification of the change we will not be holding meetup this Sunday April 18th.

The Exhibition of Omar ben Saeed manuscript will be held at California Science Center organized by Brother Tariq.

Omar ibn Said a slave from West Africa wrote a 15-page manuscript in Arabic in 1831. Omar ibn Said, was more literate than many of the slave masters he encountered in the Carolinas. We will also get the chance to see Omar ben Saeed Quran.

Africa and America, freedom and slavery, Islam and Christianity, all are coalesced in Omar ben Saeed brief 1831 manuscript. “To see his written word is just fascinating and beautiful,” says Mark Lach, senior vice president at Arts and Exhibitions International.“To have it right in front of you is a privilege.”

We will all meet at California Science Center lobby at noon. Brother Tariq was able to get free tickets for this event for us. Please RSVP if you are interested in attending. If you have any questions you can reach me at (714) 883-8068.

Subhana Allah this was an awesome meetup. The importance of such a manuscript and the unique history behind it made this an unforgettable event. The entire exhibit was wonderful. Very informative, inspirational, and above all, very, very humbling. Thanks to Brother Tariq for this gift and thanks to Sadi for having organized such a good meetup group. May Allah reward you both for your efforts! JAK!
