On March 9th we'll be hosting two speakers at Facebook's headquarters in Palo Alto: Ted Dunning, CTO of DeepDyve, and Saptarshi Guha, the creator of RHIPE.

About Ted Dunning

Ted Dunning is the CTO of DeepDyve. Previously he held positions at Veoh, MusicMatch / Yahoo Music (as Chief Scientist), where he architected the company's renowned music management and recommendation system, at ID Analytics and Aptex, where he researched methods for pattern discovery. Ted has a BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado; a MS degree in computer science from New Mexico State University; and a Ph.D. in computing science from Sheffield University in the UK.

About Saptarshi Guha

Saptarshi Guha is the creator of RHIPE, a Java package for integrating R and Hadoop, to enable massively parallel computations using R. For this work he received an Amazon Web Services' Research Grant in 2009. Saptarshi has previously held positions at GE Capital and DoCoMo Research Labs. Saptarshi is a doctoral student in the Department of Statistics at Purdue University, advised by William Cleveland.
