Between March and September, 2012 Anchorage adventurers Caroline Van Hemert & Patrick Farrell traveled by rowboat, ski, pack raft, foot, and canoe from Bellingham, Washington to Kotzebue, Alaska. They chose a road-less, trail-less route through some unbelievably gorgeous wild places, including the Inside Passage, the Coast Mountains, the length of the Yukon Territory, the Arctic Coast, and the Brooks Range. Modes of transport depended on the nature of the terrain—rowboats for the Inside Passage, skis for the Coast Mountains, canoe for the Yukon and Noatak rivers, and pack rafts and hiking shoes for all the rest.

They will be sharing their story and images from their 4,000 mile journey on April 16th at 7pm at the Snow Goose Theater.

The event is sponsored by The Wilderness Society and Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges, two Alaska-based organizations that work to protect many of the places visited in this journey. A $10 donation at the door will go to support education and outreach projects through Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges. For those interested in the most unseen and least traveled passage to Alaska by man powered craft or simply legs this is an extraordinary journey.
