Meet at: Trailhead Parking lot, across the street from the train station.

Public transportation: NJ Transit. From NYC: Trailhead is an easy 45 min train ride from Penn Station. Take train from NY Penn Station to Millburn, NJ. $8 fare each way. View train schedule (http://www.njtransit.com/).
(Driving is possible from NYC. Traffic is usually not bad going out, but often heavy on way back into NYC on weekends.)

What: Training trail run/fast hike South Mountain reservation in a lovely local, little-known forest, on part of the Febapple trail race route (https://sites.google.com/site/njtrailseries/febapple). ~8-mile out-back (or see map below to modify to do up to 50k). Start at Locust Grove trail head and go to Hemlock falls, Orange reservoir and back.

Run type: Social. Partner / form pace groups as needed. I will run/walk (combo: run slowly and fast hike), but feel free to run behind or ahead at your own pace -- just make sure you have your map as a guide!

Highlights: forest, reservoir, low hills, rocky dirt trails, small water falls.

Lunch: optional lunch to follow. Options: Take out from nearby Green Nectar (http://greennectarjuicery.com), Thai house (http://www.thaihousemillburn.com/catalog.aspx?cid=2), or Goldberg's deli (http://goldbergsfamousdeli.com/page14/page14.html) and eat in the park outside.

Rain or shine. Heavy rain cancels! Check comments section for updates.

Who: Runners and brisk run-walkers. All paces are welcome! Feel free to bring Guests, friends and family. Each person is expected to be prepared, self-sufficient, and able to find her way back to parking lot. Thanks.
