REACH stands for Real Experiences for Active & Connecting Homeschoolers. REACH is a group of highly involved and interactive families. We believe that frequent participation with the group helps to develop strong bonds within our community. Luckily, we usually have plenty of events on the calendar to choose from; this is partly because our members are welcome and encouraged to plan and host events. We feel that many hands make light work, and because many different families plan events, our calendar is as diverse as our members. Along with frequent participation and an annual contribution, we ask that our members are careful to honor their RSVP’s.
We are an all-ages group and are fortunate enough to have very active teen, tween and younger peer groups in addition.
So, if your family is looking for a social or educational experience and outlet, whole family/all-ages events, or specific peer group activities, please feel free to join us!
Please click the JOIN US button at the top right-hand side of this page to request membership into REACH, and our New Member Coordinator will contact you shortly to provide additional information.
Thank you, Your REACH Organizers
REACH - A Rare Jewel! [testimonial written by an active REACH member]
The REACH MeetUp group is doing something no other group in our area is doing -- providing activities for EVERY age group in your family. Most of our activities are open to all ages, and families are welcomed and encouraged to participate. We go to a lot of effort to make sure we have appropriate activities to engage each age group at our MeetUp events. In fact, many of our families have children in multiple age brackets.
Additionally, we do recognize that there are circumstances in which an age-group limitation is beneficial to the child or necessary for the activity. As such, we also have activities that are focused on a specific age group -- REACH HIGH, our teens; REACH (Be)Tween, our tweens or pre-teens; and WithIN REACH, our younger crowd. Our purpose in providing these activities is to ensure we are meeting the vastly different needs of each child.
We recognize that a teen needs his own space from time to time, and we like to provide activities that allow a teen to interact with other teens. Rest assured that our teen group is led by responsible, active, parent-leaders who ensure the activities are appropriate for our needs as well as for the teens' wants.
We also recognize that it is important for a tween to have an opportunity to do events with other tweens, so she can start to build friendships that become critical for her teen years. This is especially important for the tweens that have an older teen brother or sister. The tween has the opportunity to walk in a leadership role beyond the shadow of an older sibling.
Finally, we recognize that our younger ones sometimes need time for special experiences that are focused on their interests and level of understanding. Little ones with older siblings are frequently placed in the "tag-along" category during events and field trips. Thus, we find it important -- not to mention fun! -- to have cool activities geared directly to them, also.
This arrangement has the advantage of allowing families with kids of varying ages to participate in many activities as a cohesive family unit, while also allowing our youth to grow and bloom in their own "specialized" area of growth.
We sincerely hope you and your children find friendships that last a lifetime!
