Carbondale Contra Dance is on! We'll be dancing at the Carbondale Community School (https://maps.google.com/maps?q=1505%20Satank%20Road%2C%20Carbondale%2C%20CO) with it's beautiful wood dance floor. Dance starts at 7:30 p.m., with a 30 minute beginner walk through and the dance fun continues until 10 p.m. $10.00 at the door.

Contra is a lively all ages community dance that is easy to learn. Similar to other folk or square dances, Contra dances are danced in long lines with your partner and in small groups. Traditional live old time music accompanies the dances.

This dance attracts anywhere from 40 to 80 dancers from Rifle to Aspen and beyond. We have great callers to teach and call the dances, as well as our own "house band", Wooden Nickel playing lively Irish, Scottish and Old Time dance tunes. Dances include contras, squares, waltzes and maybe a polka! Beginners are always welcome, (please come at 7:30 for the lesson) and you don't need a partner.
