What we're about

This group is for investors and entrepreneurs wanting to increase their ROI. While we will focus on the psychological aspects of investing and risk management, any topics related to ROI opportunities are welcome, and all knowledge levels are welcome. Questions may include: What affects your ROI? How much do you depend on technical analysis and how much on "gut feel"? What makes you nervous? Who are the best fund managers in the business and how do they do it? How do you decide when to buy in, when to hold on, and when to cash out? How do you avoid getting anxious and making mistakes?

Here are some things to consider about smart investing and maximizing your ROI:
• "Year after year, research shows that average investors underperform the market, earning half of the returns they could have all because of their poor timing abilities."[1]
• "Every true investor knows that the market is driven by sentiment. Market surges and declines are mainly caused by two emotional factors; fear and greed. Average investors invest based on these emotions but successful investors have a stronger control over these emotions."[2]
• Only two of the five qualities of a good investor[3] relate to knowledge; the other three are personal qualities: Goal-setting, Patience, and Risk Aversion (or looking at the other side of it, Risk Tolerance).

Professionally, I help people develop their emotion management, patience, risk tolerance and planning/goal-setting, among other personal qualities and abilities. More about me:
• 15 years managing small business (retail tech)
• 5 years industrial project managment and similar roles
• 10 years senior financial admininstration
• 10 years professional coaching and counselling
• 2 years dissatisfied with my mutual fund performance and wondering if I could do better on my own
